Venice Architecture Biennale 2027
8 May – 21 Nov 2027 · Giardini & Arsenale
Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu curate a wide-ranging reflection on the built world and coexistence.
Why it belongs on the circuit
The 20th International Architecture Exhibition is curated by architects Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu under the title Do Architecture — For the Possibility of Coexistence Facing a Real Reality. It provides a distinct programme from the 2026 Art Biennale, and deserves to be understood on its own terms rather than as another entry in an art-fair calendar.
How to approach the visit
The principal venues are Giardini and Arsenale, with additional participation around Venice. Advance days on 6–7 May are pre-opening sessions; the public run is 8 May–21 November 2027. Confirm access and ticket types through La Biennale, and assume each main site can occupy a substantial part of a day.
Architectural questions naturally continue outside the exhibition. Venice’s urban fabric, lagoon infrastructure and intensely lived public spaces form a powerful counterpoint to the curatorial programme. Reserve time for smaller neighbourhoods and the city beyond the familiar monument circuit.
Three things to consider
Confirm entry and session rules directly with the event organiser.
Choose accommodation for walkability and transport, not only for its address.
Leave unprogrammed time to experience the city beyond the headline event.
This is the Architecture Biennale, not the 2026 Art Biennale. The 2027 exhibition runs 8 May–21 November at Giardini and Arsenale. Event dates checked against the source linked above on 9 October 2026.
